I don't think I can maintain doing P90X while on a low-calorie diet, especially while limited to the options of Slow Carb. If I got back on the Adderall it seems possible, but I don't know if I want to, because I think it would give me unrealistic results. I was so sore from the first two days of P90X that I had trouble lifting my arms. Also note that I started P90X one day after taking Adderall again for the first time in several months. I think I worked myself too hard, harder than my body was actually prepared for. Now I'm having to deal with the disappointment of not being able to match what I was capable of with amphetamine pumping through my veins.
Because I just started P90X and I've been doing Slow Carb for 17 days, I feel obligated to finish out Slow Carb and try P90X again in July. I just really don't think it's reasonable to do high-intensity workouts burning a lot of calories while not taking in many calories or carbs. I just physically can't do it. And I can't physically stomach eating the requisite beans to make up the difference for what I'm burning.
In conclusion, here's the list of food I ate yesterday:
June 16
- 2 Boca patties with mustard
- 80 oz. of water
- spoonful of almond butter
- a few spoonfuls of unsweetened soy yogurt
- orange gel
- strawberry gel
- 2 Boca patties with Tofutti sour cream and Daiya
- 2 Boca patties with melted Daiya and mustard
- wine with diet tonic water
I took my supplement regimen again for the first time in weeks. I have been taking my B12 supplement most days recently, but I hadn't reintroduced the other supplements I have. I'm too tired to type them out right now. Maybe tomorrow.
Michael and I did P90X eating vegan and lasted for maybe 3-4 weeks before we hit a holiday weekend and fell off the wagon. We were disappointed with how we couldn't eat beans as a protein since they counted them as carbs on the P90X diet plan. We were eating so many meat replacements that it got expensive which frustrated us (though many proteins they suggest would get expensive). We were almost exclusively eating highly processed soy products, which we didn't care for either. It's such a good workout that you could get results eating almost anything, so I'd just up the calories you're eating on the Slow Carb and try to stick with the P90X. I had major knee problems on it eventually, but I stuck with it and got over any pain or issues.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement Alyson. Actually, I felt a lot better doing P90X today. I think I just need to lower my expectations for what I'm going to be capable of the first few weeks. Compared to the rest of my body, my arms are weak, and it really showed the last couple of days. Well, and the rest of my body isn't exceptionally strong either. :p
ReplyDeleteI haven't been counting calories at all, so I'm planning to start as a way of measuring how my levels affect my performance. I also have a long post I'm about to write regarding my further research into fad diets and nutrition.
